Opening an OKX account takes about five minutes. You select your country, enter your email, confirm with a 6-digit code, add a phone number for extra security, and verify it with an SMS code. This guide walks through every screen in order so you know exactly what to expect.
One thing matters most: referral code cryptperks must be in the referral field when you click Sign Up. It activates the $10,000 Mystery Box welcome package and the permanent 20% fee discount. OKX does not allow adding a referral code after the account is created.
Step 1: Click our referral link
Click the "Claim Bonus" button above — it opens OKX's registration page with referral code cryptperks already filled in. This is the only way to guarantee the code is applied automatically. If you navigate to OKX directly via the app or a browser search, you will need to enter cryptperks manually in Step 3.
Step 2: Select your location
OKX opens with a location screen. Select your country or region from the dropdown — this determines which features, payment methods, and products are available to you. Tick the Terms of Service checkbox if it is not already checked, then click the black Next button.
OKX also offers a separate "Signup as an institution" option on this screen for companies, funds, and corporate entities. Individual traders should use the standard flow.
Step 3: Enter your email and confirm referral code cryptperks
Type your email address in the top field. Below it, the referral code field should already show cryptperks — look for the green checkmark and the line "20% rebate rate applied". That confirmation means the fee discount and Mystery Box eligibility are locked in.
If the referral field is empty, type cryptperks manually and wait for the green checkmark to appear. Once it does, click Sign Up. You can also register with Google, Apple, Telegram, or a Web3 Wallet — if using those options, verify that the referral code is still present before confirming.
Finding the email in your inbox
The message comes from OKX with the subject "Your email verification code". If it is not in your main inbox within a minute, check the Promotions tab and the spam folder — exchange mail lands there more often than you would expect.
Step 4: Verify your email with the 6-digit code
OKX sends a 6-digit verification code to the email address you just entered. Open your inbox, find the OKX email with subject "Your email verification code", and type the code into the six boxes on screen. The code is valid for 10 minutes.
If nothing arrives within a minute, check your spam or junk folder — exchange verification emails are occasionally filtered there. Use the Resend code button if the code expires.
Step 5: Add your phone number
After email verification, OKX asks for your phone number for extra account security. Select your country code from the dropdown and enter your number. Click Verify now — OKX sends a 6-digit SMS code immediately.
Adding a phone number is required to complete registration. It is also used for two-factor authentication (2FA) on future logins, which significantly improves account security.
Step 6: Enter the 6-digit SMS code
Type the 6-digit code from the OKX SMS into the boxes. Your account is created the moment you confirm it. If the SMS does not arrive within a minute, use the Resend code button. The "Try another method" option lets you switch to email verification if needed.
Step 7: Complete KYC to unlock your Mystery Box and full trading
Your OKX account is now open. To access deposits, withdrawals, and your $10,000 Mystery Box welcome package, complete identity verification (KYC). Navigate to your profile, select Verification, and follow the prompts to upload a government-issued ID and take a brief selfie.
KYC approval on OKX is typically within minutes. Once verified, your Mystery Box unlocks — the reward inside depends on your deposit and trading volume milestones. The 20% fee discount from referral code cryptperks is already active and applies to every trade from your first order.
